Geoffrey HarrisYuba City, CAJanuary 17, 2008Republicans need to get back to the principles of the constitution. I don't agree with Jeff Flake on quite a few issues, but he understands government is not the solution to our problems, the people are. We need to cut spending and taxes. Flake has the conviction and the will to make some noise with this issue.
Brenda ShepherdDenton, TXJanuary 17, 2008Let's Make it Flake and pursue like Americans what is at Stake-our future and freedom!
Fred GryckiewiczLittleton, NCJanuary 17, 2008Some one needs to get the Republican Party back to its grassroot base. The current Republican Party is no more than a bunch of big spending Democratics that call themselves Republican.!!!
Russ GrahamBuckeye, AZJanuary 17, 2008x
Albert JacquezTecumseh, MIJanuary 17, 2008Shrink it
Patricia SwansonThe Hills, TXJanuary 17, 2008We need to get the Republican Party back to our basic principles....Jeff Flake will be a great addition to the Committee..
Frank CulleyManasquan, NJJanuary 17, 2008If the earmark expense is wothwhile it show be able to stand on its own and not hidden in some other bill. IT WOUKD BE ILLEGAL TO DO THIS IN THE REALLLLL WORLD BECAUSE IT IS DISHONEST AND IMMORAL AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL FOR CONGRESS. I'M SICK OF IT
James HughbanksDenton, TXJanuary 17, 2008x
Patricia GarveyEast Marion, NYJanuary 17, 2008Please let Rep. Jeff Flake try to stop the spending of American's money, it is ours, we work for it.
Bob FitzpennFranklin, TNJanuary 17, 2008Fiscal Responsibility, PLEASE !!!
Michael WadeGrayson, GAJanuary 17, 2008What a concept! Actually make lawmakers create a Bill if they want to spent money, not simply attach their favorite "home" project to another bill. More work for them, less money spent for us.
Frederick SmithFramingham, MAJanuary 17, 2008x
Steve WileyCampobello, SCJanuary 17, 2008x
Bill SuphanScottsdale, AZJanuary 17, 2008Make Flake the ranking member. What a contrast with the Dems that would be.
Peter CristeaAndover, NJJanuary 17, 2008The Republican Party has an open slot available on the House Appropriations Committee. Congress is spending at record levels, and is passing tens of thousands of earmarks that divert taxpayer resources to shadowy special interest projects. Jeff Flake is a proven fighter against pork projects and irresponsible earmark spending. The Republican Party should fight against wasteful and excessive spending, and improve oversight, by appointing Congressman Jeff Flake to the House Appropriations Committee.

Bob Dohnalmilkwaukee, WIJanuary 17, 2008We need to go back to our basic principles. I was the Reagan campaing manager for the Milwaukee Metro area and feel that we have moved away for those principles and are now losing. BobDohnal, Publisher Wisconsin Conservative Digest widigest.com

Thomas HoweMcMurray, PAJanuary 17, 2008Just do the, "right thing!" Let's squeeze out the arrogrant, and betrayers of our Republican principles of fiscal restraint. This is a great beginning.
Debbie HughesLake Elsinore, CAJanuary 17, 2008x
Michael KeenanPooler, GAJanuary 17, 2008We must put an end to "pork spending," and we must bring the enormous deficit under control. Earmarks must be made public and debated in OPEN FORUM and not slipped in at the last moment. "We the People" are in charge, and it is time Congress remembered this. If Rep. Flake is appointed, perhaps we can begin to see change. By the way, I am an Independent voter beholden only to the Constitution and the United States.
Jesse QuarrelsStarkville, MSJanuary 17, 2008I support Rep. Flake being appointed to the House Appropriations Committee.
Sandra NewmanGilbert, AZJanuary 17, 2008Jeff represents us very well. We need more men of courage, willing to say enough is enough. How can we teach our children fiscal responsibility when they see those who call themselves our "leaders" squandering what has been put into their care? We have "sown the wind" these past decades, and are now "reaping the whirlwind" of economic catastrophy. I don't believe it is too late to bring discipline to the process.
Jim CalareseMilford, MAJanuary 17, 2008It is time for Rebublcans to start acting like Republicans. We don't need RINO's or Republicsns that act like they belong on the other side of the isle. We need Jeff flake.
Earl KeyMarion, OHJanuary 17, 2008We must curb earmark and other excesses in spending.
William HuffFletcher, NCJanuary 17, 2008Republicans need to show they got the REAL message of the 2006 elections. It was not about the Iraq War, it was about an out of control congress spending too much and involved in too many scandals. This would be a step to address the spending issue.
Will StephensonBrownsville, TXJanuary 17, 2008x
Hal RottenbergWoodstock, GAJanuary 17, 2008I'm tired of the pork. If _my_ salary were to go down, I would reduce my spending. Why can't we get someone to put a hard line on these huge budget bills?
Thomas PetzakHatfield, PAJanuary 17, 2008We need a Watchdog on the House Appropriations Committee so that the Democrats do not open up the Vault. We need someone who can help steer the Nation out of the upcoming Recession.
Joe ZurawskiMilan, MIJanuary 17, 2008x
Duke & Linda BurgessGlenn Heights, TXJanuary 17, 2008Dear Rep. Boehner I have stopped calling myself a Republican due to the profligate spending of the Republican's in the Congress. I would like to be able to call myself a Republican, and will if those conservative Republicans in the House and Senate will start voting their convictions and stop raiding the Treasury for pork for their constituents. Your reputation is that of an honest Representitive who doesn't accept "pork' for your district. Please put Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee to demonstrate your allegiance to fiscal responsibility by the Republican party.
Adam PetruszkaHouston, TXJanuary 17, 2008Transparency and common sense are what the general public want on the appropriations committee. Jeff Flake will remind egregious earmarkers that they are piddling away other people's money when bigger issues require attention. Lower spending and lower taxes are the path to prosperity. The rest of the world is figuring this out, yet the republicans who developed the formula need to be reminded. Appoint Jeff Flake and rebuild your credibility with voters!
Paul HeitGreenville, WIJanuary 17, 2008Make it Flake! We need to take a forceful stand. It will be good for all of us.
Thomas LemonSalem, ARJanuary 17, 2008More true conservatives are our only hope, and yours.
William HoerrOttsville, PAJanuary 17, 2008I'm sure you remember the support you enjoyed when you established 'the contract with America.' The support is still there if you deserve it. One way to deserve it is to end earmarks.
James E. JohnsonMartinsville, INJanuary 17, 2008This is really sad, that I need to ask Republicans to stop spending my and my children's tax money. How about using some common sense and not spending borrowed money to build things that should be built by private money. Assuming the project is worth doing period.
Dan WardTulsa, OKJanuary 17, 2008Let' stop the mortgaging of this and future generations NOW!! The answer to Funny Money is not more inflation based exacerbated by ever growing government spending Funny Money. We must grow the Private Sector, not Gub'ment!!
Austin JulianPaint Lick, KYJanuary 17, 2008Shrinking government will return Republicans to the majority. Put Rep. Flake on the Appropriations committee, and do it post haste.
John J CotsonasGreen Valley, AZJanuary 17, 2008Do the right thing and maybe those of us who no longer support the party with cash will donate again. As it stands now the Republican Party spends like that other party, way to much. Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee would be a step in the right direction to change that.
Theron NaborsCharleston, SCJanuary 17, 2008I dropped my membership with the RNC several years ago because of my disgust with congressional Republicans. They certainly weren't bashful about asking me for money but any complaining I did about the irresponsible actions of congress seemed to fall on deaf ears. It was obvious to me they were going to get their rear ends kicked in 2006 due to their runaway spending practices but the leadership appeared to be completely oblivious of this.
Charles UnietisBanner Elk, NCJanuary 17, 2008x
Andrew WylyDallas, TXJanuary 17, 2008Whatever happened to Republicans who believed in smaller government? Stand up to Jerry Lewis and put Flake on the committee.

Rita RodiBlacksburg, VAJanuary 17, 2008x
Paul WiesnerSpringfield, MOJanuary 17, 2008Let's try to regain some control in government spending. Jeff Flake could be a good start in that direction.
Gordon SwensonFergus Falls, MNJanuary 17, 2008x
Christy BartholomewEdgewater, FLJanuary 17, 2008We definitely need more principled people like Flake in D.C. who can maintain those principles under the pressure of lobbyists and the overall corruption in Washington. The nonsense Congress spends our hard earned money on makes my blood boil.
mark jacobsnew york, NYJanuary 17, 2008let's get our country moving in the right direction. we desperately need reform with the runaway spending and politcal excess.

Jay HostetlerWayland, MIJanuary 17, 2008x
Brian BassettFryeburg, MEJanuary 17, 2008John, We desperately need a fiscal conservative on the Appropriations Committee who will pay attention to the out of control amendments to every bill. This is a powerful opportunity for the Republican Leadership in Congress to prove they are serious about returning to an agenda of limited government principles. We need fiscal restraint now more than ever! Appoint Jeff Flake
roberta schoenenbergergeneva, ILJanuary 17, 2008x
Charles WoodardChester, VAJanuary 17, 2008x
Dr. Richard CouchIowa City, IAJanuary 17, 2008The GOP lost the 2006 midterms because it lost sight of its principles and forgot why the voters installed it as the majority party. The way back to majority status (and the way to restoring fiscal sanity)is a right turn--back to its conservative roots. Jeff Flake stands for the principles that made and will keep this country strong. Appoint Rep. Flake to the Appropriations Committee.
Tom HungerFort Lauderdale, FLJanuary 17, 2008If you do not stop the Earmarks, we will dis-elect you, no matter which party you are from.
Gary WojnaroskiPjnckney, MIJanuary 17, 2008I think its time we had someone on the House Appropriations Committee that will watch out for the PEOPLE!!
Billy MooneyhamAustin, ARJanuary 17, 2008It is important that every taxpayer heed the warnings of David Walker, Head GAO. The politicians (both parties) are spending us into oblivian. We will have the credit rating of a third-world country soon if this isn't stopped.
Robert WaligundaPennington, NJJanuary 17, 2008Minority Leader John Boehner: Do you know of anyone that is more qualified? This appointment, along with a Bush Executive Order squashing the earmarks, would be a good start to gaining back our credibility. Actions speak louder than words.
Glen AsburyKokomo, INJanuary 17, 2008x
Pamela LuttrellMission Viejo, CAJanuary 17, 2008Renew the Contract with America - it works!
Katha ComeauxOlive Branch, MSJanuary 17, 2008Jeff Flake would be a really good start at getting back to the fundamental principles of controlled thoughtful spending on behalf of Americans.
David WaechterNoblesville, INJanuary 17, 2008The GOP has so many ex-members because it has been so disingenous, campaigning on a platform of fiscal discipline but spending like donkeys. Representative Flake's appointment would send a message that the Republican party got the message.
Gerald McConnellHampton, NHJanuary 17, 2008Bring sanity back to the GOP. Appoint Congressman Flake to the House Appropriations Committee.
Ken RobertsRockport, TXJanuary 17, 2008The priorities should be a strong defense, a strong fence, lower taxes, and less spending
Judy Corl-LoronoYucca Valley, CAJanuary 17, 2008Everyone seems to be touting Regan's fiscal policies but not putting their money where their mouth is....just MY money. I am a Senior widow who lives at the poverty level and don't want any handouts!!! We need more Jeff Flakes to guard our Great Country and get it back on track.
Gary MorrisMeridian, IDJanuary 17, 2008x
Rena SchmidtNiagara Falls, NYJanuary 17, 2008Rena Schmidt Niagara Falls NY For the people by the people, we don't need anymore government in fact they need to back off. If we get a democrate in the Oval office watch out! The spending and fleecing of Americans will be out of control! And the democrates in office will have fat pockets. Stop the madness!
Joshua HartshornCharlottesville, VAJanuary 17, 2008Congressman Flake has a proven track record and solid reputation. Please appoint him.
John TirrellTucson, AZJanuary 17, 2008For the past few years I have refused to contribute to the party and I have considered reregistering as an Independent. My reason, the party has lost its way fiscally. Republican means no more than a being closet Democrat because of the way Republican members of Congress have been frivolous with MY tax money.
Bobby ReedHopewell Junction, NYJanuary 17, 2008I strongly believe we need a strong fiscal restraint representative on this critical committee to serve a leavening role among the spendthrift Republicans who have run amok with taxpayer's money for the last ten years. It is about time they recognize the fact that they are Republicans and start acting like it!!
Patrick YoungJacksonville, FLJanuary 17, 2008Less government spending, lower tax burden for our working citizens. Any way or any one that can accomplish I am all for! Our wasteful out of control spending will be this country's downfall if we don't take action soon. We need some leadership with the fortitude to make it happen.
Evanston Blair GarberEvanston, ILJanuary 17, 2008x
Peri McMillanDuarte, CAJanuary 17, 2008Personally, I find it repugnant that our so-called leaders are so good with spending OUR money, spend it like there's no tomorrow. This needs to stop now. Jeff Flake is the man.
Victor M. FettermanRichmond, VAJanuary 17, 2008Here's what happens to good conservative Republicans when they get to Washington..."why not me" syndrome. The Democrats are "fill in this space", WHY NOT ME? Instead of thinking what is being done is WRONG and I need to be part of the solution, too often the "WHY NOT ME" syndome strikes. In this specific case, the Democrats are getting all these earmarks for their districts, WHY NOT ME??? The obvious answer is that earmarks are WRONG, regardless of who (Democrat or Republican) submits them, and I need to stand up and say so! Hopefully, Rep. Flake has been innoculated against "WHY NOT ME" syndrome. If not, then his is a wasted appointment.
Kirk MuseMesa, AZJanuary 17, 2008Rep. Jeff Flake is my Congressperson. He represents me by not asking for special "earmarks." It's phony and hypocritical to be for fiscal conservatism, yet expect your Congressman to "bring home the bacon."
Jo Ellen Davey CohenOak Park, ILJanuary 17, 2008The Republicn Party must take a strong position against the wasteful spending of taxpayer monies. Power to the People.
Dale LovettHobe Sound, FLJanuary 17, 2008I would have liked to see more coverage of the large amounts and numbers of PORK added to the 2008 Appropriations bill. Average voters and taxpayers need to know.
Thomas BalstadEast Grand Forks, MNJanuary 17, 2008I've always voted Republican, because I simply believe in the parties base concepts: strong military, lower taxes, less government etc. But they simply don't live by their own platform as well as I'd like. For this reason,I've stopped contributing to the national party and only contribute to individual campaigns. Putting a fiscal conservative like Flake on the Appropriations Committee would be a step toward getting my 'checkbook' back on board. Just one step!
Edw KurylukVero Beach, FLJanuary 17, 2008Ear Marks are a disgrace
Michael LevinsonSan Francisco, CAJanuary 17, 2008We need a new face that has appeal outside of the base. Give Flake a seat on the Team.
Gloria TeppTucson, AZJanuary 17, 2008This is the opportunity for our Republican leaders to show they are serious about controlling excessive spending as they promised when they were elected. The faith we have in our representatives has been severly eroded by their profligate ways. Put Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee and LET HIM DO THE JOB.
Brian BerkeyMelrose Park, PAJanuary 17, 2008Pork belongs in the kitchen, not in federal legislation.
Harriet RiddlePalisade, COJanuary 17, 2008x
Charles M. HornsbyArab, ALJanuary 17, 2008It is time for congress to start having some integrity and some sound principals, istead of taking care of their own pet project of spending millions or billions of dollars just so they can have their name plaster everywhere, such Sentor Bird and others. If Jeff Flake will do the job then give the position to him and I say Amen.
Sharon MorrisMeridian, IDJanuary 17, 2008x
Patricia GarveyEast Marion, NYJanuary 17, 2008Please give Rep. Jeff Flake a chance to help stop spending the American's money. We work for it.
Lana RideoutHowe, TXJanuary 17, 2008We must limit government spending. Please appoint Rep. Jeff Flake to this position. Show that Republicans are serious about being the conservative party. Deliver on promises made in the past. LIMIT government spending.
Joan MillerScottsdale, AZJanuary 17, 2008Jeff Flake is the right person to help cut gov't waste.
Patricia GarveyEast Marion, NYJanuary 17, 2008Please give Rep. Jeff Flake a chance to help stop spending the American's money. We work for it.
